Learning Theories

This matrix was a great review and introduction to these learning theories! The resources give to us were sufficient for me to complete this project. The biggest challenge for me was to figure out how to create this matrix however, once I did a little research I was on my way!

These theories will definitely impact my professional practice, especially the Connectivism theory. I strongly believe that since information is readily available, students need to know how to responsibly use the technology. I have noticed that in my classroom students are constantly on their phones but they are on games or a social media site. They are exposed to a surplus of information but I want to help them discover reliable and valid sources for their information.

Given the resources, I would like to implement more technology in the classroom. Using computers that allow the students to explore and work together create more responsible users of technology.

  1. Hi Danielle! I will also admit that I had a few minor difficulties figuring out what a “matrix” was, but once I saw one I realized that they are in nearly every textbook I have ever read. I find myself reflecting more about which learning theory I am using while I am writing my lessons. Because of that, I believe that our learning theory matrix assignment was very beneficial. Hope you have a great week!

  2. Hi Danielle! I attempted to leave a comment earlier, but I’m not sure if it went through. If it did, please pardon me for writing this again. I agree that the biggest difficulty that I had when completing this lesson was figuring out what a matrix was. Once I did a little research, I realized that matrices are in nearly every textbook that I have ever read. It was good to be able to put a name with the type of figure. I have already noticed myself reflecting more on the types of learning theories that I am implementing in my lesson plans. Going forward, I plan on being more careful with implementing the theories that I believe to be the most beneficial, though they certainly all have their place in education.
